I have 2 algae eaters in a 20 gallon tank, 2 weeks ago I moved 1 into a 10 gallon tank to see if it would help with a snail problem. Within 24 hours of the move I was unable to find either of them! I have checked the ornaments, plants and filters to no avail. I even did a complete water change (also for the snail problem) and had no luck in locating either of them.... what do you think? Some kind of telepathic suicide pact?

I have an upside down catfish and when he was in my 55 gal we tore the thing apart looking for him. We didn't even have a lot of ornaments. We figured he died we didn't see him for about 3 months maybe 4. Then we upgraded to a 75 and while draining and moving fish we saw this freaky thing darting around because we had almost completly drained the tank. It was him we moved him to the 75 and our last "sighting" was about 2 months ago. I have no idea where he was hiding as I checked everywhere.

Check the gravel! Perhaps they're hiding there. Check the area around the tank and  perhaps they jumped out. DO NOT ALLOW ANYTHING TO DRY OUT THAT YOU REMOVED FROM THE TANK!!!! Also, you could buy a fish trap, bait it, place it in the ten gallon, and if you catch him, place it in the 20 gal. Perheps the other will appear.

Never do a full water change, its bad for fish it stresses them out.
Look in the gravel, do you have any pets in the house.

OK, I have located them both..... brown and crispy!!! One was under the tank stand, the other must have flopped aroung quite a bit 'cos it was under a book case aroung 10 ft away. Strange that they both dissapeared in the same 24 hr period.... telepathic suicide pact - had to be!

aww poor things :( Thats tyhe exact reason why my tank is fully inclosed on top, no way they are getting out unless they can get out the smal 1x2 that i havve for the water filer. I learned this after when I was a kid and we had a few fish that commited suicide. I have no clue what posses them to jump out

Need to look at your water stats in not normal for algae eater to do that.
R.I.P.
