I have my planted 40 gallon long tank set up and cycled, ready for some inhabitants! It was put together with a bunch of stuff that was sitting around, and a 25 dollar garage sale tank!

I know for sure that there is going to be a school of 8 Sterbai Corydoras, as I already have them on order from my LFS. But I keep looking and looking and can not decide what I should put in with them, Angels are out due to the tank not being very tall which they were my first idea. Nothing that gets too big either.

I have thought of livebearers, or maybe some glowlite/neon/black neon tetras in a school of like 15, but still have not convinced myself that they are my best choice either.
I just need something peaceful that will not bother the corys or the plants.

Open to suggestions!

Tank specs are
40 Long 48x13x16
Penguin 330 HOB filter
Wave action powerhead
30#'s of Florite
40#'s Pea Gravel over the Florite.
Dual DIY co2 generators
120 watts of 6500 k light
300w submersible heater

For the moment it is set up on my workbench in the basement, untill I can convince the wife that we could fit it somewhere upstairs. It is primarially going to be serving as a grow out tank for small/baby plants from my main tank.

oops forgot to add a pic too!

I have been researching fish for about a week getting ready to stock my 36 gallon after it gets done cycling. From what I have gathered you should be fine with a couple of angles in your tank, the height is adequate and the size of your tank should easily handle a couple of angles.

If I am wrong some of the local fish sages will surely let us know. :D Good luck and nice tank.

I just now realized that I posted this in the beginners section, oops, maybe I should add a link to this in one of the other sections too, unless I can get a mod to move it for me to the Chit Chat section.

I am leaning more and more towards Swordtails and Platys/Moons, I kinda miss the bright oranges and yellows that I used to have in years past, and their bright colors set off well with all the green in there. That and from the cost factor they are pretty cheap compared to some fish.

Angels are now ruled out by my wife, and of course she says maybe we could get some Silver Dollars, but I had to then inform her of their appetite for greens... lol

I would set up a school of Congo Tetras, which are very beautiful fish, but I don't think I could move my present ones out fo the tank upstairs because they are the highlight of that tank.

Rasboras are an idea, I will have to see which ones they have in stock at the LFS.

Keep 'em coming!
