Hi all,
What could i put under a black sand substrate?
I am looking for something that will not only
build up the substrate to form a hilly effect
but will also help the plants feed,
have been told Cat litter is ok,
what other suggestions do you have?
Also i will be doing a fishless cycle
so hopefully something that WILL NOT affect the cycling.
The tank is 240ltrs,
Thanks.

TROPICA planting substrate from green machine

A normal pond soil with work well and is cheap, may leach a bit of ammonia but if your cycling the tank that really isn't a big concern. Most are packed full of NPK so you have a fertiliser at the same time.

Just be aware though, disturbing it after it's all settled and capped can make quite alot of mess but if your careful you can avoid this.
