29 gallon cycled planted community tank with mostly Tetras. Have also Corys, a swordtail, Dwarf Guarami, small catfish, White Fancy tail Molly.

PH - 6.0 or slightly below
Amonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - anywhere from 7 to 80 ppm
KH - 1 DKH ?
GH - 13 DGH
Temp - about 72 - 80 degress Farenheit

External Whisper filter
Bubble wand
hanging heater
20 watt plant growing bulb

Try to do water changes 15% (5 gallons) per week with water that has sat for at least three days. Usually add 1 tbsp of aquarium salt and 6 or less tsps of Stress Coat after each water change

Question -

My tap water has a neutral PH yet my tank water PH is consistently acidic (around 6.0)

I do add stress coat frequently with water changes and when adding new fish. Could this be the culprit?

Thanks for any help!

i use stress coat but it dosnt lower the pH maybe u have driftwood in the tank cos they can lower pH levels

Thanks for the response -

Nope, no driftwood. I do have some plants with some leaves that are browning.

Could this be causing my low PH?

well plants browning will usually cause ammonia to spike up so wenever u see plants browning or dead leaves remove them straight away.

maybe ur pH test kit is old and maynot show correct readings?
