ok straight answer needed.

I have one male betta in a 180litre, i was told I could add as many females as I want (within tank capacity etc) but im sure ive read and been told elsewhere not to mix them,

can someone confirm as my wife wants me to add 5/6 females to our tank

other stock is in my signature

This might be off topic, but i see you have Electric rams. What is the temperature of the tank?

No, you can't keep female bettas with males, even if the tank is very large.

Sorry andy, I would advise against it too, it's just asking for disaster. Set yourself up a little sorority tank for the female bettas if you really want them :good:

thank you, I thought as much, will not be mixing them !

27/28 degrees, ive had my rams for about 5 month with no problems - till now , have a small fungal infection im treating but other than that they have been ok.

multiple Females alone do well in a community tank as far as I know,I see you have guppies in there as well, have they not been hit on by your beta ? they tend to show aggression towards large finned fish..

Actually it also happens where guppies will pick on the betta.

I'm also going to go for no females, even though it is a large tank. Watch out for some of the other fish (eg tetras and barbs) nipping the bettas fins, they can be targets for 'nippy fish' :good:

Also, is the stocking in your signature correct? If so, I would think of changing the numbers of some of the fish before thinking of adding more - for example, those tetras and corys ( and I think barbs too, though not 100% on that) need to be in groups of at least 6. They're also probably less likely to be nippy in larger groups, too.
