so- when was this, 2003?- i got a 10 gallon. for passing 8th grade. whoop. this was in June/July, right? so i have an empty tank for a while, then i have a tank with my first Betta (Donahue =3) and a few ikkle Kuhliis. then i have numerous other fish, and go through several vamps and revamps, until i finally get sick of the bacteria that decided to attack my fish and dumped the tank in a dark place in the sun porch.

tank i uprooted last weekend, Fish wants more fish. i already have everything i need, only a few minor changes to be made; removal of a few of the silk plants- replacing them with live plants from our 50- removal of some of the gross gravel and replacing it with sand (any ideas where i can get a bit, cheap?) replacement of the mixmatched lightbulbs, and new fish.

i refuse to move Drac, since the last bacteria adored eating Bettas, and i love the little bugger. but for stocking- i'll be putting probably three fish every two/three weeks- would this work?

6 Guppies (3 male, 3 female)
6 Neons

remember, i'm cycling, i have an abundance of stuff in this tank that is already seeded with bacterium (i managed to raise nine Danios, three Cories, four Platies and a Betta in that tank at one point, as well as three Goldfish at another) and it has proven it can handle a HECK of a bioload, so 12 tiny fish isn't going to murder it.

i was just wondering if that stock would be a good idea. my Neons always have a habit of hidign, or floating, or being boring. and Guppies, well, with the balanced sides, would the females be chewed to death? should i have one more female and one less male?

=D thanks.

those 6 guppies will turn into about 80-100 guppies. There will be nothing to trim their numbers down so the survivors will be ale to grow up and breed. The neons are a dificult task to keep alive. 1 out of 6 live a full life and 3 out of 6 die within the first day or so. For the guppies, try 1 or 2 males with 3 females and keep an extra 2 gallon tank around just incase it overcrouds with babies.

Are you saying that this tank has set empty for about a year? If so, the bacteria cultures that were present for the nitrogen cycle will not be there anymore, you will have to start over again. :/

I'd get two female guppies for every male, it seems to work out pretty well for me. Now if you could just find a fish that would eat the babies and still be small enough for a ten. Hmm, can't rams go in a ten?

it hasn't been cycling for a year, it's been in storage about 6 months and was just pulled out and just started cycling now.

i'd LOVE to get Rams, we've been trying to find a pair for the 50, but i can never find them, my LPS only sells Convicts, and currently one very large Pirahna.

the Guppie babies were actually planned as feeder fish, mostly. for their parents, for Drac, for the Angels.

and my dad is the 'Neon Guy', he's the one who bought 60 of them for 10 dollars and made them all live and acutally breed in his tank. a very long time ago. i'm pretty sure he can help me with six little guys trying to live in a little world =3

i think i answered everything... thanks for the help, though, guys =3 i'll definately think on the Neons (maybe White Clouds or Zebras? i saw some nice albino/unbarred ones...) and the Guppie numbers, as well as getting a resident baby-eater =3
