hey im re stocking my 48" x 20" 16 " ive asked before what to stock it with and this is how far ive got just want to confirm ect.

1 x Rottie Sev
3 x red headed tapajos
2 x Bolivian Rams
6 x dithers (help for ideas)
1 x Catfish/Plec (clown pleco)

i think that is too much but would be willing to remove the rams ? what do people think? also this is the list of fish i want so numbers and things can change.

Geos are good size fish. Why not get a good group of Rams of 5 they will hang out together and don't get that big. then the rest could work.

Also 3 is a bad number for cichlids one is always the odd man out and suffers.

I agree with Snowflake to be fair, if this is the tank with a view for it to be the permanent set up I would go for Biotodoma aka Cupid Cichlids or - if your budget can stretch to them, Geophagus sp.Pindare - the smallest geophagus and a look a like to Altifrons and Surinimensis geos - Oddballs express have them on their lists at £18 each - which isnt actually a bad price - they are quite a rare species around and stay smaller than the red heads.

ive seen that the read heads get to 6 inch but this is off google also the geo sp.pindare gets to 6 inch. so would you suggest doing somthing like this

severum with a group of smaller cichlids like geo sp.pindare or cupid ect? so it wouldnt work with 3 different types of cichlids? like severum, 2 rams and 2 geos? cheers

id go with the severum and a group of apistos unless u really want an earth-eater

shoaling id go with rainbowfish but maybe ud want something from south america like x ray, serpae or black widow tetras

i only really lie he red head tapajos because of there bright colours and because i could get three of them very soon form someone on here. but if there would be to big for my tank with a rottie in there two then :( lol but i do like the look of some apistos but i have no knowledge on these fish

The thing with red heads is that they get to around 6 inches with some making upto 8 inches where as the pindare will make a max of 6 inches with 4/5 inches being more common sizes in a tank set up.

Maybe go for the redheads and see if you get any of the large growing specimens? The thing is with geophagus is they grow so slow its not even funny so your going to have literally years to assess their growth speed and what you suspect their max size will be.
