Hello,

My tank dimensions are 85cm long x 44cm wide x 58cm high. It holds 165L or 44US Gallons.

I'd like to stock:

1 angelfish
10 red-eye tetra's
2 bolivian rams

My main concern is that the red eye's will eat my plants (amazon swords, vallisneria, hairgrass) or nip my angel's fins, but I really like how they resemble piranha's. are my concerns unfounded?

Is this tank big enough for one angel?

thanks

Tank is just about big enough for the angel ideally you want 18 inches or more but yours is just under so I would say go for a thin sand substrate, but I think you will be okay. Red eyes can be a bit nippy from what Ive heard but in a big school like 10 or more the school should keep together and focus the quarrels together. But yeah looks like a nice stock :) Could probably up the tetras to 15 and get 4 bolivians IMO mix it with a nice school of cories say 6 or 7 and its a nice stocked tank.

Hey Will, thanks for the reply. The tank height is actually 23inchs so i should be sweet! I was more concerned about the length just being shy of 3 feet (it's 2.8). I'd love 4 bolivian's, but I can't for the life of me sex them. I don't think the footprint is large enough for 4 male bolivian's. I will probably end up increasing the school size of red eyes.

Stoneage, yeah, it's the Aquaone 850.

From what I read red eye tetra are suppose to be nippy and not really recommended to be kept with angels, however I had to re-home my remaining red eye because the angels constantly persued one individual and kept biting it. (these are young angels doing the damage not the larger ones)? you never know with fish, they always seem to break the rules.
