Hello, there i'm just looking for some advice from you all :). I've just bought a new tank and decided to make it a tropical is a 60l tank what works out as 60L tank = 15.8 us Gallions 60 litres = 13.2 Uk gallons, I'm currently doing a fishless cycle for my tank so am in no rush to get my fish for a while,Also have done lots of fish care just never stocked one before though lol.
I've picked these fish so far:
60L tank = 15.8 us Gallions 60 litres = 13.2 Uk gallons Fish Tank: 60cm length, 36cm height and 30cm width 1inch fish per gall

Fish I want:

Glowlight Tetras [Hemigrammus erythrozonus]:
Size as adults: 1.5”(4cm)
Temp:22-26º
PH: 6.0- 7.5
Notes: Dark Background or sub
Fish Number Wanted: 5 = 7.5inchs total fish
Fish Wanted: 5 Price:5 For £10 Space Taken: 7.5inches

Siamese Flying Fox (crossocheilus)

Size as adults: 4-5”(10-12cm)
Temp: 24-26 º
PH: 6.0-7.5
Notes: Keep on own
Fish Wanted: 1 Price:2.75 Space Taken: 5”

Siamese Fighting Fish [Betta Splendens]

Size as adults: 3” [7cm]
Temp: 24-30 º
PH: 6.8-7.4
Notes: Keep on own, unless with female and no guppies
Fish Wanted: 1 Price:£2 Space Taken: 3”

Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish [ MELANOTAENIA PRAECOX]

Size as adults: 2” [6cm]
Temp: 22-28º
PH: 6.5-7.5
Notes: Keep on own, unless with female and no guppies
Fish Wanted: 4- 1m 3F Price: 2.65ea = 10.00 Space Taken: 8”

Total Cost:£24.25 Space Taken: 19.75 Gals

As you can see these have worked out at 19.75 gals i worked this as 1inch fish per 1gal water not sure if this is the correct way of measuring this :S? but not sure if its us galls or uk gallons. All the sizes for the fish are also when they will be full grown so at the maximum capacity of the tank.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks Kirsty =)

Glowlight tetras, Hemigrammus erythrozonus - :good:
Siamese Flying Fox (crossocheilus) - too large and too active
Betta splendens - :good:
Dwarf neon rainbowfish, Melanotaenia praecox - too large and too active

You should be looking at stocking along the lines of..
* 1 Betta
* 8-10 glowlight tetras or 10-15 ember tetras
* 8-10 dwarf/pygmy Corys (maximum size 30-35mm, should have sand)

Schooling fish do much better in larger groups and smaller fish are best for a tank that size as larger fish would become stunted, which causes health problems and shorter lifespans.

Wooopsy my bad on the Siamese Flying Fox, didn't realize i put 1.2" that was size they shop was selling them in :) thanks for pointing that out.
I have sand in my tank after reading an article about it, although i do have a little bit of gravel on one side of the tank.

i wouldnt worry yourself too much about the one inch per gallon rule.

if thats the case i have 83 inches (when fully grown) fish in my 50 gallon tank. i just make sure i do a 20% water change every week.

remember that the fish arent fully grown yet so by the time they are i am likely to have a larger tank for them
