Starting a saltwater tank?

Newbie here! I currently have an outdoor pond and I brought our little fancy goldfish inside to winter in a 29 gallon tank. We have the hood/light, heater, bio-filter. Soon, I will be putting them back outside in the pond, then I will have an empty tank.

A guy at the LPS said that a saltwater tank is pretty much the same as a freshwater except for the salt. Same maintence, etc. just more $$ on fish. I would like to know if this is true or not.

Sadly, that is not the case.

The first two things to do is read as much as you can on saltwater tanks. Also visit as many places that have them as you can. Look at pictures, etc. Their are different levels of saltwater tanks and it is best to know what you are shooting for from the start.

It is not really all that hard, but takes money and patience.
