Yo, at petsmart, they have the neon tetra cage. How come the neons aren't in a huge group schooling? They just swim all over the petsmart cage. Will they do this in my aquarium or will they actually school?

sometimes they do and sometimes not. i heard that they school when they feel threatened or scared but once they get used to the environment, they'll go on their own to explore returning to the group every once in a while. i only have 3 and usually they're spread out in the tank until i introduce new fish or change something like decor

i have glowlights, and they only school when the light has just been turned on, and when i shove my hand in the water. so i don't think tetras (glowlights anyway) school very much.

i don't know much about neons though. :p

gee! i know petsmart aren't the cleverest when it comes to fish, but surely any dummy would realise that the water won't stay in the cage as well as it will in a tank!! ;)
