I bought a 20 gallon tank a few months ago and after awile i bought a SM spotted pleco and since that time he has grown and grown and grown and now he is very large i was wonderinggrowing so much?? because i do not want him to grow out of the 20 gallon tank because i dont have room for anything bigger what should i do??

some plecs can get to 2 foot long, fairly obviously way too big for a 20g. You need to do some research and find out exactly what sort of plec he is and find out what size he's likely to get too. Planet Catfish is a very good website to start, try looking on there. I think it's fairly likely he'll outgrow your tank so it would be cruel to keep him. If you need to re-home him try posting him up for sale/swap/give away in the buy sell swap forum, hopefully someone can give him the home he deserves in a nice big tank.

:)

Unfortunately Planet catfish's info on the most common species is less than reliable, especially their sizing info.

is it? I've found them quite good. might have had a shed load of bad advice then :/

in that case ignore me and listen to Kathy  :p

LOL - it's mainly on the common species. For example, they have lipsarucs pardalis down as reaching 9.8", but it exceeds 2ft quite easily, and in most cases at least 18". They also have L001s down as reaching 7.9", and they get as big as gibbies *lol*.

oops, off topic but I don't suppose you know how big a common syno gets then do you? we had an unidentified catfish, found out thats what he is and just looked on planet catfish for a size. might have to adjust our plans for him by the soudns of it! :/
