Tonight while feeding I noticed a spot on the Betta's head. My eyesight isn't that great but it appears to be a loose or raised scale. I tried to take some pics but he wasn't cooperating very well. These were the best I could get.

Does it look like anything I should be concerned with?

He may have bumped or scraped on something and pulled a scale. Keep the water clean and supplement his diet with some bloodworm so he has plenty of protein for repair and regrowth.

Are you testing your water quality? Ammonia and Nitrite? My betta will get a similar type spot occasionally and they always go away after a few days. Keep an eye on yours and make sure the spot clears up quickly. Water changes are always the best/first line-of-defense.

Yes, API Master kit. Full tests once a week with 50% WC and gravel vac, ammonia check three times a week because filter is still cycling. Got bad advice from LFS that I'm trying to correct.
