could you explain more and show a link to the bulbs as i have a Incandescent Hood lying around that can handle up to 2x40w bulbs for 10g that i would like to convert into a riccia harvest tank. Thanks for any info.

just something like this

i like the minis because they are really neat(i would say cute, but ehhh, dont feel like getting made fun of). i have the minis everywhere i can stick them in the house. other reason is because the others dont fit because my hood is small

these are exactly like the ones you find in the lfs but you can probably get them cheaper at home depot or something

these look like they will work very well if they fit because they have a longer screw thread contact so itll be just like a tubular incandescent. they might seem expensive, but its way cheaper than incandescent in the long run, and they dont get hot. i got a whole bunch for a pretty low price at costco a few years back, not sure if they still have them but you can check.

If this forum allowed it, I'd advise you to search for "CFL" or "MCF" or "CF"... "compact florescent lights", "mini compact florescent" or "compact florescent"... I think another I see on forums that are predominately planted is "PCF", "power compact florescent", or simply "PC", "power compact".

The key is to get daylight bulbs, 6500k or 6700k, etc, as the spectrum is rather important for planted tanks.

HERE is the link I did in DIY, I converted from a traditional T* to 2 of these, went from 15w to 50w 8)
