Hello All
Haws any one kept these particular gouramis, I keep reading that a pair or trio can be kept in as small as a 5g tank? Wanted to know what their behaviour was like (your experiences) as there may be an opportunity to get some, do really like the looks of these. Have read into optimum temperatures and such and see that on average get to 4cm or 1.5" and so wondered what minimum tank specs are. Also if you have had them how were they in groups etc? Thank you x

I had a group of 6 in a 60L tank with some honey gouramis and they were wonderful fish to look after and watch. Their croaking is really quite endearing and they are such inquisitive little fish. A species tank is recommended and they like warmer and softer water.

I would be reluctant to put them in a really small set up as they all like to have their own territories and can get quite 'chatty' when someone encroaches on their domain, although I too have read that they can be kept in a 5 gal tank. They are smaller than the larger croaking gouramy, but I found them to be so much more colourful.
They like a well planted tank with java moss or other 'frilly' floating plants to be able to build bubble nests in.

I'd not hesitate to have more as and when the situation arose!:D

Thanks so much Jennybugs that was just the sort of thing I needed, if they would be better in something larger than that is fine! :good: Read about the croaking and cant imagine what it sounds like but bet it is funny and cute  Well we will have to go have a proper look at them (and probably fall in love) Thanks honxxxx

I had a group too that actually spawned in a 20 gal with 4-5 fish. I hope to get more next time I see them. There is a vid in my sig that shows them croaking. It is a very interesting behavior.
