Hey guys

I'm just doing a test in a bucket to find out the ammount of ammonia to add to my tank to start the cycle.

My tank is 28L and I put 2L in he bucket, i figured when I get the ppm right, i can multiply it up and it'll be correct.

Does this theory sound good so far?

I've only done one test so far, but does 5 drops of ammonia in 2 litres making it up to 0.5ppm sound about right?

Thanks guys.

Ammonia calculator at the bottom enter all the details and it'll give you an accurate amount.

I did try that, but my eye-dropper doesnt have any ammounts on it :/

What should I do, just keep trying?

Also, by means of the calculator, I find it difficult to believe that 1.18 ml of ammonia would bump the 28L tank upto 4ppm?

Sounds about right, it was 1ML(4ppm) for my 20Ltr tank.

Go to your local chemist & ask for a 5ml dosing syringe. it should cost about 70p. Its used to give babys the correct dose of medicine so is very accurate.

makes life a lot easier.

Yeah i have a couple for dosing ammonia and other chems. Plus my testing kit had no eye dropper so i got one for that. You can get 1ml ones too probably more accurate for your needs.

Agree its handy to find a dosing syringe. But its also true that it doesn't take all that much experimentation to figure out a dropper and have it be "close enough." WD
