Hi everyone!!

So my LFS has a great stock of cichilds at really reasonable prices (and now I'm spoilt for choice really, not a bad thing tho :D )... might just have to get more tanks t-he!

Anyway, my tank is 248l/65G planted tank PH 7.5 GH 16d temp 26* with a 1500 powerhead filter. Stock wise I have: -

6 pearl danios
18 neon tetras
3 SAE

And following various threads on here I have umm and ahhh'd a bit but have settled on a pair of cockatoo cichilds, I popped into the shop at lunch time and he keeps trying to get me to have aggassisi's and said I could get away with two pairs.... am I pushing my luck!? The thing is I also saw that he has kribs and I really fancy one of those now... could I have a pair of cockatoos and a pair of kribs or wud u recommend I have a single krib due to their protective instincts re: breeding? For that matter, is the protectiveness limited to just kribs or should I be mindful of the cockatoos aswell? There is a thread on here about singletons and am confused as to whether I should just keep individual examples?

I get paid Friday so am going to pick them up Saturday (will do a 50% water change Friday night in preparation for my special new additions sooo excited!!!) Before my final selection is made - what do you think??

I would not recommend mixing the kribs with Apistos.. on the other hand, I would definitely have 1m 3f A. cacatuoides or A. agasizzii

Cichlids act much more interestingly in groups, as opposed to on on their own.

I'm confused - the SAE's are from Asia, danios from Thailand - what is the point you're trying to make Minnnt??

Thanks kittykat for some constructive advise I'm gonna stick with that :good: decision finally made... only two more sleeps to go!!!!

The point they are trying to make is that African cichlids don't mix well with American cichlids due to aggressiveness and water parameter requirement differences :)

Kribs are African and the others you mentioned aren't as far as I'm aware?!

If you place your mouse over the picture of photobucket, a menu will drop down. Click on the bottom one, img code i think, and it should automatically copy the link. Switch to your post on here and paste the link in the text box and it will display the pictures in a bigger, rescaled size when you add the post.

Looking forward to seeing them, i really like em! :)

Okay so here it goes....

I did try and take some more photos but they're just so small my camera couldn't get focus on them

Is the fish in the bag the same fish as the second picture? Looks more like the first one to me.

Second picture looks female but with colour, I'm not good at sexing apistos though and it's harder when they're young
