hi i bought two snakeskin gouramis about a month ago and over the last week or so one has been chasing and nipping the other one, i cant seperate them as i only have one tank but do need to rehome the one that is being picked on as its fins are beginning to show wear and tear, the gourami is about 3 inches long cant think of any othe solution to this problem and i dont want the fish to suffer.

Have you pics, do you know the sex, it could be that you have 1 x male 1 x female, it would be better if the tank is big enough to get another two females. There should also be loads of hiding places ie plants etc for her to hide in. If you can't get pics if you can describe the shape of the dorsal fins we may be able to sex them that way.

hi as to the sex im not sure and as for the tank its holds 350l and there are loads of places to hide and shelter but the bullied fish tends to go next to the heater in a vertical position, as for the fins they are both identical on both fish with the dorsal fin starting about 3/4 down the fish and finishing just short of the tail, i cant see the bullied fish taking the constant barrage much longer.

Are the fins pointed (male) or rounded (female), if you have two males, that could be the issue, then yes you may have to take the bully back and try to get two females.
