Hello ive just bought some Red Ramshorn Snails from ebay 20 of them there babys ....
Ive bought them because my tank is planted and i leave me 2 bulbs on 12 hours a day for the plants but algie is growing on the glass now ( fast )
I Know you guys will just tell me to not use my lights that long ...
and the algie is only growing because i got the light on 12 hours a day....

So i bought some Red Ramshorn Snails to get rid of the algie and for my plants to get rid of the dead roots etc. The only problem is i have 1 big talking catfish and a clown loaches ( small one )

I heard clown loaches eat snails ??
The snails have just come today so need to know if to put them in or not

Yes, the clown loach will more than likely eat the snails.

i've no doubt in my mind the loachs will go for the snails, nice snacks, nom nom.

What about malaysian trumpet snails ?? Because the person i bought them off have said he will give me malaysian trumpet snails for exchange of the snails...

Do you think they will taste different? I supposed you could always try one of each yourself and decide.

I don't think a clown loach would eat one of them ???

oh right, so when they poke their heads out of their shells the loaches will just ignore it? :D yeah right, nom nom !!!!

It really depends how big the loaches are buddy.

How big is the tank?

Ive got a 4ft tank

340L i think
So a lot of room
The first bit put a smile on my face
I had loads of small snails in my tank from the plants so bought a Clown Loache and then they all went....
But now my tank is filling with aglie i have 2 talking catfishes and 3 common catfish but still algie is growing on the front glass more and more every day and im trying to get my java moss to grow so leave my 30w xs 2 bulbs on 12 hours a day...

Then there is your problem, too much light, you only need 6 hours a day for decent growth, i suggest you cut it down.

Why 6 ?? ive seen on the net 12 all over the place

e.g

Mmmm...'cos that's real specialist fish site you've linked to there

Honestly, 6 to 8 hours lights on is plenty; Java moss doesn't need much light to grow; you'd be better off trying to control the algae rather than trying to add snails; they just won't survive in sufficient numbers to have any effect on the algae with the loaches in there.

Ok and i guess if there is to much lift the plant gets that thing .... photosinenise
i know i spelt that wrong.
I will try 6 and see if the moss grows and see if the algae goes .....
and about the site i just use google and google chooses the best websites for me i trust google

Thanks for the advice maybe some times less is more .....

Introduce yourself to the planted forum here, there really is a great wealth of knowledge on here to learn from.

Snaily lunch.
MTS will also be a tasty snack for them too.
No one wanted a load I was giving away so I gave them to a friend who has clown loaches.
Didn't last long.
