Hi

A few weeks ago I noticed there were a few snails - I'm calling them snails but they were about 2mm wide and look like an ammonite fossil. There were also a few "eggs" on the glass of the tank and also on the filter. The eggs were small, round and white. I treated the tank to remove the snails and I also removed the "eggs" which were hard to the touch.

Everything was fine until last night - I now have no snails but lot and lots and lots of these eggs on the glass, filter and plants. I am now beginning to wonder if they are eggs in fact from one of the fish we have and not the snails. We did have platties a while ago that did breed (the 1 platty we have is the offspring of the originals) but I have no experience will non livebearers.

Can anyone offer any advice??

The tanks we have holds

1 x betta
2 x pearl gourami
1 x platty
3 x zebra danio
4 x white cloud minnow
6 x lemon tetra
10 x cardinal tetra

Thanks

Lis

Hi iJay

The treatment I used was Interpet Aquarium Snail Away

Hope this helps.

there's a chance ther fish eggs. because you said you had no snails left i know you may have some you haven't found but if the numbers are increasing after the treatment it suggests fish to me as snails are known to eat fish eggs.

have you seen any breeding behaviour that you could identify which fish it was?

but if the eggs were white it's normally a sign of fungus on them. but i duno about snail eggs.

hope that helps :good:
