My mystery snail escaped my tank. Which is 85% covered so that's crazy. I just found him on the floor, his shell was dry. Don't know how long he was there but how long does it take for a snail out of water to die? I loved this snail. I put him back in the tank in hopes he's still alive.

I’m sorry to hear that...

Did you look inside it’s shell to see if there’s anything in there?

Mystery snails are escape artists. I once had one escape out of a 1 inch wide opening.

Yes his body is still in the shell. But it looks a little slimy. I mean more than usual. He's in a cup of tank water now. I'm watching for signs of life.

That’s good it’s still slimy. Have you seen any movement?

It may take a couple of days for him to move if he is alive. If after a few days he starts to stink you know he is dead. I had one sit on the bottom for over a week before he started moving. Good luck.

He's alive! He's moving around in the cup. I'm so relieved!
Great news! Put him in your regular tank after you acclimate him.

Try to cover that opening, so it doesn’t happens again.

Even stuffing filter floss into every hole will stop a snail getting out.
