Hi,

I have a strange smell from my fish tank, it's isn't overpowering or anything but it is noticable.

My tank smells of seaweed. I haven't any real plants (only fakes) my Ammonia, NitrIte etc are fine.

I do thrice weekly 15% changes.

Any suggestions?

I have 3 filters

1 aqua EL with a sponge filter

1 Flauval (sp) with a foam filter

and I cheapy box filter with Nitra Zorb.

And no I don't use carbon

p.s. And I change them whenever the yellow indication thingy tells me to. I've had the tank since August and have cleaned the filters twice

I'm sure they are, but are all your fish accounted for?

:)

A little bit of carbon in one of your filters will make the smell go away. You have a tank full of fish, and no carbon to neutralize odors.

if you do go with the carbon it will have to be changed every three weeks or so. carbon left in longer than that can leech the toxins removed back into the tank. will take care of the smell though.
