Just curious if they are a danger, to myself (i'm having a baby) or my fish.

I use Paragon As i don't wish to kill the snails in this tank as i feed them to my figure of eights.

They don't seem to be bothering my fish, just crawling around in the java moss and on the bog wood.

Are they rounded, teardrop or oval shaped, white or transparent, sometimes shiny and pretty fast moving?

If they are they may well be Ostracods or Copepods, both small crustaceans that do not generally do any harm in your tank at all but are very widespread ;)

P.S: No they will not harm you or your child but you should always practice strict hygiene with any pets including fish ;)

They're sort of shiny and white and they can move fast, they're also really agile. Their bodies are sort of a long oval shape.

So yes i think they are copepods. I do try and practice strict hygiene whilst handling my tanks, but i still get water splashed in my eyes on occasion and i use bare hands. The copepods seem to accumulate in my external eheim filter as well.

Thankyou all for the replies as its put my mind at rest.
