Hi - I have been keeping tropical fish (dwarf puffer, ottos and harliquins) in a Biorb. I have recently bought a 45L Aradia Arc together with a Fulval U1 internal filter, heater and Co2 unit - I am setting up for a heavily planted tank.

I want to know, can I use an external filter and heater on such a small setup - I have looked around and couldn't find anythign designed for s small setup. Has anyone here tried this?

just depends if it has a variable speed in it otherwise you might make a whirlpool in the tank and make your fish dizzy :D

Ahh good point, hadn't thought of that.

Also - sorry of this is a really daft question - how does the water get to and from the filter, my tank doesn't have bulkheads, so do I dangle the hoses in the tank or is there a *proper* method?

have a look at these

or these

I have ran a Tetratec EX700 on an Interpet 48ltr "fishbox" before, just turn the flow down a bit :good:

I'd recommend the fluval 105. You can turn down the flow, but I've got it full pelt in my 30l and my Betta is fine.
