Hey there. Last week, I purchased a female dwarf gourami for my 5 gallon tank that had no fish. Its planted and cycled, obviously. Parameters would be, 0 ammonia, nitrates at 10ppm, PH 6.8, KH between 3 and 6. Temp is at a constant 25-26°Celsius.

Well, the day after I purchased her, I noticed a small bump on the right side of her belly. I immediately started researching about what could it be with little to no result. My local fish store cant tell me what it is but they insist its nothing to be worried about, but I just want to know why this happened. It is extremely difficult to capture it on camera because she won't stand still when Im in front of her. Its a small swelling/bump, and in some angles you can see the tip of it having a darker color than the body.

Some more details about her overall, she probably is a juvenile because she was quite pale at the store. She is very energetic and I have not noticed any signs of lethargy at all. She loves to eat algae around the tank, and she eats perfectly well the pellets (for carnivores) I feed her. I will attach some pictures, one of her full so that you can see her looks, and close-ups of the bump. What could it be? Should I be worried? Thank you in advance.

EDIT: Included another image of her after almost two weeks (same as the one I posted on my next reply below)

I really don't know. I'm basically just replying to bump the thread to try to help getting other responses. To be honest I'm not sure I see what you are pointing at in the images.

BTW, welcome to the forums. :)

Hey, thanks! :D

It's been almost two weeks now, and what I thought was a spot is now becoming something similar to a sore. I have no clue what it could be and the internet is not helping me at all. Is this a bad omen? She still shows no sign of lethargy, so I still have hope.

Update: exactly one moth after getting her, she has sadly passed away. The sore kept getting bigger so I can safely assume it was indeed the Iridovirus what took her. Thanks to everyone who replied.
