I have a 19 gallon (UK gallons) tank with 6 albino corys at the bottom but want a small algae eater. Can algae eaters live alone, or do they need other algae eater friends and can anyone recommend one that doesn't grow too big

Hi Kryten,

To keep things small you could try a few otocinclus

Heres a piccie of mine

These stay very small upto about 2" but are imo beautiful B)

They come in many different varieties like this for example

Or failing that there are quite a few plecs out there that don't get too big eg. bristlenose or something like a gold nugget (to the left) but he aint much good as an algae eater -_-

:)

Depends what algae you have.

A small group of otocinclus (minimum of 6) would do well, or if you want something special, i would get a bristle nose ancistrus...

If its thread algae, then a SAE would be good...
