Hey folks,

Quick question.  I want to add some foreground plants to my tank, and I was trying to decide between dwarf sag and crypts (wendtii).  Then I thought, "well why not both?"

However, dwarf sag is a fast grower and shoots off runners pretty quick, whereas crypts tend to be a slower grower.  Do you think the dwarf sag will overrun the crypts if I decide to plant both as foreground plants?

Generally speaking you should plant slow growers first and give them a chance to establish before adding faster growing plants. No reason why you can't put them both in, but I say add the crypts first. If you want to achieve a mixed carpet then plant the crypts in small amounts around the substrate, then once they start shooting up around then plant the sag around them. Otherwise, as you say, the sag will overrun and you'll have a much smaller number of crypts.
