Im not sure if i have a planted tank or not. I have a 15gal full of tiger barbs, and i have something green stuck into my black sand, but i dont think its an aquatic plant. Maybe a "bog plant", idk. It looks great, nicest fish tank ive ever done, but i dont think the plants will last as i really dont think they are aquatic. Thats what brings me here.

First of all, could you guys check my pictures and tell me if these plants are aquatic or not? I will be posting them shortly.

Second, does anyone know a good, zero maintanence, no fertilizer or co2, no thought involved, rapid growing plant i could look into. Something i can buy pretty much anywhere. Preferably one that can grow in sand. Basically, i want to know your favourite weed. (There is direct sunlight available, my tank in right in front of my window)

Thanks a lot!

P.S. if you give me good advice and i grow some nice, big, full, plants, then you'll probably get me to convert to the "planted side" for good and for all my current and future tanks!

Finally got a pic up. I swear, it looks nicer in the daylight.

Some form of of cryptocoryne Wendtii, Id say cryptocoryne wendtii green. This IS AQUATIC so don't worry. Best thing to do is Take a close up picture of the leaf and upload that mate. In terms of easy grow plant. Green Cabomba mate. This things grows so quick with no Co2 and no Ferts. Also look at elodea pal :good:

Personally I'd go with Elodea over Cabomba. I've had both (same size tank) and never had Cabomba last long but got Elodea and have never looked back, great plant! :)

That isn't Wendtii i don't think...

And i also like Cabomba rather than Elodea. I have both, but Cabomba grows like wildfire and has a nice bushy appearance. Stems are great for using up any excess nutrients that may be present in your tank. In a well balanced cooler tank (around 24 celcius) i have had brilliant results with it. I am also dosing dry ferts and it is very vibrantly green.

Another vote for Elodea, here. Grows very quickly in my experience. Not a fan of Cabomba because it grew like wildfire at first, then melted in my tanks :grr: (probably too warm for it)

Another of my favourite weeds is Ceratophyllum demersum. In my high tech tanks I have to trim it back every other day or it would take over in no time. In low tech it obviously wouldn't be as fast, but still faster than most.

Limnophila sessiliflora is fairly vigorous too.

No they're not weeds. Just plant them closely together and buy some more plants. Preferably the ones mentioned.

The box says what they are and if you actually read the instructions :hmm:? It would tell you that gel stuff at the bottom of the tube is they're form of water so the plant doesn't need to be in water until that gel is removed. (hopefully you removed it before putting the plants in the tank). Then if you still have the tube look at it. It'll tell you what the plant is.
