Hi I'm not new to fish keeping I was on here years ago on another name but forgot my login details,
So I have 1 question.
My tank consists off the following.
1 baby silver arrowana
4 large gold severums
1 chocolate cichlid
4 geo baby's
And 3 elliotis

What would people recommend I've used sand for year now tried gravel.
Is bare bottom better?
What you reckon?

Geophagus prefer sand or fine gravel. The Arrowana won't care because it lives in the upper half of the tank.

Regarding the Arrowana, I assume the tank is big and well filtered? Arrowana can reach 3 feet or more in length and regularly get to 24 inches in aquariums. They also jump so a good cover is required.

Since you mention a bare bottom (no substrate), I will just add to what Colin mentioned and point out that the substrate is the most critical aspect of a healthy aquarium. It is the "bed" for many species of bacteria with differing functions, and these are essential. Filters cannot even come close to compensating, as many of the essential bacteria do not live in filters.
