Hey Guys,

1 of my Biggest Glass Cats, is Loosing its Transparency. Is this a Sign of it Nearing old Age.
Its about 4-5 Inches in Length now.

I Guess that Losing its transparency is a sign of old age, as the one that was losing color last night is dead, completley white

Awww so sorry to hear that. How old are/were they?
I'm afraid I know nothing about glass cats and have never kept one.
:rip: lil fish.
Hugs,
P.

Hi Gill,

I'm so sorry to hear about your glass catfish. :byebye:

I don't know if turning white is a sign of old age, but it is usually a sign that the fish is on its way out. These are delicate beauties and once that happens, I doubt if there is much you can do for it other than be sure the tank is clean and healthy.

I'm sure he had a good life in your tank.

NIce postin Inchworm. I too had a couple of Glass Cats many years ago turn white and pass away. Id had them for AGES. I also noticed a slight decrease in their size over their "Colouration" period.

Thanks Guys.

I've Actually Been suprised how hardy these fish have been.
I lost 90% of my fish in the House move and these Survived the Trip and the Shock from the Residual Metals in my Houses' Water Pipes(which has gone now).

These Glass Cats Have been Ver Entertaining, The Minute the Hood comes off, they are the 1st @ the surface begging for food, zipping around the surface gulping doen the food and putting Fiddy in his place. Never been Timid in my tank.

I guess the large Bogwood and Almond Leaves help, as the Water is Tinged Brown. And they feel more Confident. I just wish these Fish were Cheaper - Most LPS/LFS have them @ 2-4 Each.

On Another Note - My Panda Cories have been Suprisingly Hardy aswell, and I haven't Lost Any of them either.
