Hi Guys :)

Slightly concerned about my Platy. Iā€™ve had her for a good two years now, and she seems fine at the moment, but have noticed her belly has recently gotten ā€˜biggerā€™. I moved her into my 200 litre tank 3 days ago. Her eating and swimming habits havenā€™t changed and her scales and gills seem fine.

Could you please take a look and hopefully put my mind at ease? The tank she moved from has male platies, but they are a third of the size of her :/

Have you ever dewormed your fish?
If not, then perhaps deworm them all for tapeworm and thread/ roundworms and see if she looks more natural after that. Right now she looks a little odd shaped just above her butt, which is where eggs/ developing fry would be. It's not major but she might have worms that are causing a slight deformity.

Praziquantel is used for tapeworm.
Levamisole Hydrochloride is used for thread/ round worms.

Depending on which country you live in will determine what medications you can get but Praziquantel is available world wide as a dog and cat tapeworm treatment. The Levamisole might be an issue to obtain.
