I have a Shubunkin that's about 5 years old who lives in a raised pond which takes 200 gallons of water. It shares it with 8 other assorted fish.
Yesterday I noticewd a red/black 'growth' on its side. He seems happy enough and swimming well. The other fish look healthy and feeding well. I have changed the water - it was a bit murky!
I have taken a photo to a recognised aquarium stockist who didn't know what it was and recommended I put salt into the pond. - which I have done.
I would appreciate it if anyone has any idea what it might be. I do have quite a good photo, which may help ( however I could not work out how to attach it to this email).
Many thanks
Jayne
