Hi,

I am in the process of setting up my first marine aquarium.

I have Boyu tank which holds 130 litres of water.

I was wondering how many shrimps I could put in and what are the best ones to have?

Would it be best to put them in one at a time?

Any advice would be very welcome.

Thanks.

Stef

Hello.
If its the boyu 550, its 128ltrs.
What other fish/inverts/corals do you have in there at the minute?
That will help us out.

I have 2 soft corals. A blennie,a gobie, 2 humbugs and a cleaner wrasse, 5 hermit crabs and 2 turbo snails.

Shrimp do not make a massive impact to your bio load, adding a bonus to your clean up crew. Depending on species, ie sexy shrimp staying less than an inch to cleaners , bloods ,etc will make a difference to numbers..
Add shrimp in pairs or groups to stop territorial disputes, and several species can be kept together.

Any shrimp that is NOT a reef lobster, mantis shrimp, or pistol shrimp would be fine

Thanks for all of your replies.

I did put a cleaner shrimp in but during the hot weather he died.

I want to put two cleaner shrimps and two red fire shrimps. Would they be ok for the size of my tank? If so could Iput them in at the same time?

Has anybody bought on line and if so what was their experience of this?

Thanks again for your help.
