Shrimp Question

When my tank is cycled it will be home to a cockatoo dwarf cichlid harem of one male 3 females. can i put shrimp in with them or will they just become expensive snacks?

Weellllll... I don't have the experience of the folks above, but I had amano shrimp with my apistos and all was okay until a nitrite spike fried the shrimp. My male cuckatoo is about 2.5 inches and my female is an inch so they are still not full grown. Lots of hiding places.. who know could work for awhile.

There is a certain difference here.
Amano sized Shrimp=fine
Cherry sized Shrimp=Expensive snacks

When i stock my aquarium it is going to be a SA tank. Are there any Shrimp from that part of the world to put in or shall I just put Armano in there & tell all my visitors they come from south america?

Ammanos will be fine with cockatoos - Ive kept them together no problems, infact ive seen the shrimp snatch food from uner the cockatoos noses!! LOL
