I just got half a dozen cherry shrimp. I already have a tank set aside with a few each of yellow shrimp and velvet blues.
Am I right in thinking that hybridisation will happen and I should keep them apart, or can I safely add them together.
Answers asap as I have new cherry reds in the bag I bought them in.

All colours of cherry shrimp will interbreed. The first offspring will be OK colourwise but several generations down the line they are likely to be all brown (wild coloured)

Ah, I really don't want to mix them then. I just put the Cherries in a shrimp free tank and I'll need to split the yellows and blues too. I have room for this so no problem.
Thanks Essjay. In fact, Many Many thanks since the yellows are the offspring to the ones I got from you. They've been very happy until I lost a 100 or so last week when I dosed with Easylife Easycarb. Still have a dozen or so though, even after I salvaged a few dozen more that I sold/part-ex'd to Fish Alive in Durham.
