I ordered replacement media for my 2 smaller Fluval filters. Just arrived in a flimsy unpadded bag. The bag is filled with a fine powder that looks like powdered sugar. The box inside was open & appears some media was crushed.

Last week Amazon told me to keep a $45 Weight Watchers scale I didn’t like & fully refunded my credit card. Usually they have done that only on items <$10. Now they want me to drop the item off at UPS to have a replacement shipped. It’s a $7 item. I don’t want to risk waiting in line for $7, even though I can be frugal.

Can I assume the uncrushed media is ok? I can’t really get a good look because of the powder, but they aren’t all crushed.View attachment 150669

tell amazon you want the item picked up by UPS and to supply you a shipping label

Not sure that would work, but I can try. Their policy is to email a QR code (free return) which they did, & offer me a choice of dropping item off at UPS or this big department store that has a longer line & is further away.

well you should just keep it and rinse off the particles...it should be fine to use

tbh if it is simple and possible id return it i got a bad airpump and i returned, worked.

So it will be flying back to Amazon. Matt thinks they have a policy of requesting the return of inexpensive items that are broken in transit to improve services. idk
I have go out anyway to return the 3D background that looked like dog poop and buy grey spray paint & brackets for the DIY background I’m making.

Keep them or return them, doesn't matter....that kind of media ALWAYS is dusty when new, and needs a good rinsing before use

well, they’re gone along with the poop background.
The item will be replaced soon. It will be interesting to see if the second box is as “dusty“ as the first. the box ripped open during shipping. Looked like someone took a grinder to it.

Amazon sent the replacement. Box intact. Plastic bag containing media intact. No powder visible, but sure I’ll see some when the bag’s opened if Slap says they’re powdery. Other container looked like someone dumped a bunch of corn starch/powdered sugar inside. 🙀🙀🙀

I have never used a product like this, is this going to fix all your filtering woos? What exactly does it do?
