hello i was wondering if i should add sand to my tank for the sake of my Bronze cory which is a bit of a baby at just under an inch,(yes i no i have one and will get more when i can)

the gravel is very smooth river gravel stuff but ive heard that it could damage its barbles and being my fav fish ... ;)

if so what sort? to what ratio? etc (note i have two alino TB 1")

Short answer is yes. Until you've seen a Corydoras with inch-long whiskers, you haven't lived. Corydoras are so happy with sand, they stick their little heads right in there, spewing out sand behind them. It's very, very cool.

If you check out my aquarium you will see that I have created large sandbank along one side. Gravel basically forms the shape, propped up with a bunch of rocks. Sand is poured over it all, filling the cracks and then forming a bed on top. There's also some pond soil in there, too.

So there are a bunch of ways you can mix sand and gravel -- be creative!

By the way, Corydoras should be in groups, ideally three or more. They tend to be much shyer when kept singly or in pairs. I suspect you're going to regret getting the two tiger barbs, too.... but you have perhaps already worked that out! They are very high on my list of fish I wish shops wouldn't sell, at least, not so often!

Cheers,

Neale

kewl and yeh we wrote a letter of complaint to the shop (festival parks pets at home)
for genreally having idiots selling fish, and i knew quitequickly they weren't the cherry barbs we were after
and after seaching found what they really were..
the only plus is that at least the bronze and the tb were out of the same tank so they are family of sorts
