I've been away a lot for the last couple of years and numbers in my community tank are dwindling, so at the end of the year I intend to clear out the tank and start again. I'm interested in old world cichlids and thinking of keeping some, but I really have no idea where to start. So I was hoping people on here could give me suggestions as to potential fish that would go well together in the tank. The tank is 4ft, 240L so that limits things a lot. Water is around Ph of 8 and I don't remember anything about the hardness.

I like Malawis, Tangs and shellies. I prefer colourful fish, but that's not essential.

Which do you prefer? Haps? Peacocks? I think a tanganyikan tank would be good. Neolamprologus can br good an in a bug tank they would look gorgeous! 1 big colony of shell dwellers!

They are all beautiful. I like the sound of Neolamprologus, but didn't think my tank would be large enough for them. How many would be able to keep in my tank, and would it have to be 1 species, or can multiple go in together? Sorry, I don't know anything about old worlders.

A big colony of shell dwellers also appeals, but I'm leaning towards the Neolamprologus at the moment.

Neolamprologus is the genus of shell dwellers. :)
