Hi everyone.

I could do with a bit of advice on sand cleaning.

I like to give it a hoover with every water change however due to how light it is, its very hard to not get it sucked into the bucket, but in doing this im worried im also leaving other light debris behind too such as old food and poo etc.

Any help apreciated.

Cheers.

just swirl the vac over the sand in a circular motion it will kick up all the poo and leave the sand undisturbed

You can use just a siphon tube with no cleaning cylinder so that you can clamp your thumb over the opening until you are in the area of the tank you want to be and at the right height. You can use your last two fingers of the hand holding the tube underwater to wave from above and lightly stir up debris rather than much sand.

Also, another good thing to realize is that sand is quite cheap and you can simply have another bag in storage and replace a little every now and then. That helps you realize that losing a little doesn't really matter much at all.

~~waterdrop~~ :)
