Hi all, can anyone tell me if this aiptasia, and what size is to big for peppermint shrimps to tackle them?

Not an expert but it does look like it to me. I have not yet found an aiptasia that is too big for a peppermint shrimp - they have managed to keep my tanks totally clear and one had quite a big aiptasia on some live rock...

HTH, Eddie

I have a peppermint shrimp in my tank and I don't have any because of it. I have seen them too big for the shrimps to handle though but that one looks small enough.

It is aiptasia and it is too big for a peppermint shrimp, by far.

My peppermint shrimp dealt with an aiptasia that was about 3/4" across and 1" long and that was when he was a baby. He grew a lot after that big feed :)

I think they tend to nibble bits off the sides until it is gone....

Cheers, Eddie

Yeah I guess this is a YMMV situation. Mine only eat the ones that are barely large enough to see but wouldn't touch one that size. And my pepps are full-grown.

they prefer new growth but once thats gone, they will start on the larger ones but seing there is enough small ones, they probably don't need to.
