Right now I have a 35+ (I think) gallon octagon tank that has been up and running for over 4 months now, and has been cycled... I have a Penguin 170 biowheel filter running the tank. I also have about 15 lbs of live rock. I am using a typical fluorescent light fixture... Everything seems to be healthy and running smoothly, but down the road should I invest into a protein skimmer or any other hardware for my tank if I were to decide to get larger fish? (Right now I have 4 different Damsels, a CC star, a few blue legged crabs, and 2 different snails)

Thanks

IMO your best bet would be to double the amount of live rock

Also what is your circulation - you want to aim for at least 10*per hour

I would definitly get a protein skimmer

I know this may sound like a dumb question, but How do I go about figuring out my circulation? Is it based of the specs of my filter and tank size??

Is the only circulation from your filter?

Your filter is rated at 170 gallons per hour - I doubt it actually gives that much so 35 gallon tank 170 g/ph filter = about 5 times per hour

I would add a powerhead - ideally a stream or seio or the like
