Common name: Rosy Tetra

Scientific name: Hyphessobrycon rosaceus: synonyms: Cheirodon troemneri, Hyphessobrycon bentosi rosaceus, Hyphessobrycon ornatus

Family: Characidae

Origin: South America, Lower Amazon, Guyana and Brazil

Maximum size: 4.5cm

Care: Conditions (pH 6.0-7.5), the temperature should be 24-26C Keep in groups of at least 5-6. If keeping less than this they might keep low in the tank and not move around so much. Bigger shoal make livelier fish, they are best in open water.

Feeding: They will accept most available flake and granual , diet suplimented with tubifex or bloodworm.

Sexing and breeding: The males have rather longer finnage, and brighter markings. It is moderatly difficult to breed these fish.

Comments: Beautiful elegant fish with a lovely rosy colour hence the name. very good community fish, not at all aggressive.
