Hey!

I'm getting ready to plant a carpet of java moss for a iwagumi style tank. Should I place the rocks after the java grows or at the same time I place the java? I don't want the rocks to be totally covered in java, but I heard it takes awhile to grow. I plan on carpeting it by getting a mesh pad and stringing the java onto it.

Thanks a lot! :)

I'd always put the rocks in first. If at all possible I'd put them in before the substrate if they were of any size.

Thanks for your reply! I wasn't sure that if they would block the java moss from growing up through the mesh or not. That's why I considered to have a full carpet and then place the rocks after. Plus the rocks will distort the circulation in the tank (I dont know by how much) and a 10g is kind've small to get a power water thing that creates a current.
