Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a RO/DI unit for me. I have a small 24gal tank so i dont need anything that makes large amounts of water. Any brands to look out for? Is it even worth the cost with such a small tank and being able to buy RO/DI water 10mins away for only about $2 for 5gal??? Thanks!!

A tank that size would prolly go through a gallon or two a week for topoff and 5 gals every 2 weeks for water changes, so prolly around 10gal ($4) every 2 weeks, aka $2/week. In the course of a year, an RO unit would pay for itself... Look for 36 or 50GPD RO units. Ebay, buckeyefieldsupply.com are my personal favorite for finding RO units

Thanks ski. Im seeing all different types of units on the market. Everything from 2 to 4 stage filtrations. I understand 4 stage is better than 2 but what is necessary for reef tanks? I would assume its the 4 stage since that is RO/DI instead of just RO but is it necessary? Thanks

IMHO, a DI stage is not necessary for our applications. What's more necessary is a flush kit and TDS meter :)

Thanks again ski. Any recommendations on brands?

Any one that comes with a TFC (thin film composite) membrane. You can even use drinking water RO units. TFC membranes have to be made to exacting specs, so they're almoast all good for use :).
