A few weeks ago one of our 5 gallon tanks started leaking from a seal. It's a standard 5 gallon rimmed tank from a kit (Aqua Culture from Walmart). I've heard of people removing the rim from small tanks to make them rimless. Would this be possible with this tank and would I need to do or use anything special? Or am I just setting myself up for failure and a giant mess? Thanks in advance!

They're so inexpensive, I'd just buy another, and save future potential headaches...

Money isn't really the issue here. It's more of a fun project that I've never done before and I hate wasting anything. If it's sketchy with the full 5 gallons, then I might try cutting the glass to make a smaller rimless cube.
