Request Help

Our Dwarf Emerald Gourami has red blotches on its sides (underbody), red blotch in eye and what seems like either something coming from it around the mouth area, both sides and/or it looks like skin hanging from it. It appears ok apart from that, still swimming all over the tank and eating quite a lot of food. As we have been away for a week and someone else has been feeding the fishes could he have been stressed as he wasn’t fed everyday (apart from one of those week blocks) or does he have some sort of bacteria or something else wrong with him?

We have put 4ml of melafix in the tank to see if it helps. Should we be adding stelazine or other chemical to assist? Will such treatment effect the other fish?

Tank size: 63 litres
pH: 7
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0
kH: ?
gH: ?
tank temp: 27 degrees

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):
looks like something growing from the corners of its mouth/ skin hanging from its mouth and a slight discolouration around its mouth.
Red spots on underside of the body
red blotch in eyes

Volume and Frequency of water changes:
25% change and every 8 days

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
Nothing, bar adding 4ml of melafix

Tank inhabitants:
5 glass catfish (small)
3 dwarf suckerfish catfish (otto)
3 yoyo loaches (babies)
7 neons
and of course one dwarf emerald gourami

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): - one new plant.. We had another one alluminium, but it died. Also the glass catfish are relatively new and also 2 of the suckerfish and yoyos.. This is in a period of a month. All fish are getting along well and there is no bully fish or fighting occuring.

Exposure to chemicals: Nothing apart from the melafix, which has only been added on observing his symptoms.

Digital photo (include if possible): Haven’t got one at the moment, but happy to take one in the morning (11:43pm here), if assists.
