Well, I've treated my 10g for four days now with the pima/melafix and haven't noticed any positive changes, so I'm ready to move onto the big guns.
Question is, should I do a water change before adding the Maracide (by Mardel, if anyone is curious)? Will the other meds react badly with maracide? I know pima/melafix are gentle meds, but I want to make sure I'm medicating properly.
I've searched around the internet and can't find any info on it...

Note: Reposted from Tropical Fish Emergencies forum here, as there doesn't seem to be anyone in there.

are you talking about maracyn?

after a 25% water change, you should use activated carbon to remove what's left of the api melafix/pimafix. then do another 25% water change. when you pour it into the sink, if the bubbles quickly pop, that means most of the melafix/pimafix have been absorbed by the carbon.

it is now safe to dose with maracyn (after removing the carbon of course).

Thanks Cerano. I realized after some digging that my filter HAD carbon in it the whole time. :grr: I did the water change and added a half dose (5ml) maracin for starters, to be followed with the rest in an hour or two.
*Fingers crossed* Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
