Just wondering how many people here actually know somebody from this forum and do things with them, like go fish shopping or stuff like that, not boyfriend girlfriend or married just as friends. Sorry if somebody has already asked this, if so just delete it moderator please, I don't understand the search tool well.

My neighbor is a fishkeeper. We go every now and then. He has a couple pretty big oscars and Jack Dempseys. He's got a huge channel catfish in a tank in his basement. It's probably 3 feet long, not sure.

He has 4 tanks. Two of them are over 100 gallons, not sure of the exact gallons. He has another one that I KNOW is 125....he keeps the Oscars and Jacks in there. Then, he has a 55 gallon marine tank. He has a hard time keeping the stuff alive in that one. No help from me as I don't dabble with ocean life.

My girlfriend and I go alot, too. She likes fancytail guppies :S

O he should come here then. I can tell you don't like fancy tail guppies. You should just be glad your girlfriend likes fish, my parents don't mind them but don't like paying for the electricity and all, I can't imaging a girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife not likeing them.

I've tried getting my husband interested in fishkeeping for years but to no avail. It's probably a good thing in our case as I've got 9 tanks running as it is, can you imagine if he liked the hobby too.

I've been trying to get my wife into it also without much luck. She sais it's just not her thing. Don't get me wrong she like them and all, but more as a viewer, not a caregiver. Instead she keeps telling me that the really beautiful Conure that she found at one of the pet stores here is more suited to her (costwise).

how do you keep 2 rainbow sharks together???? just wondering as everyone says you can't sorry if that sounds bit dumb :)

and i got my mum to like fish keeping so alot of the expense is paid lol

my boyfriend doesn't really get it, although he has taken more interest in the goldies in his mums pond (that has never been cleaned or filtered and the fish have never been fed) they've been there 20 years+ and bred. and he likes Chi my betta and feeds them for me sometimes.

my parents don't get it, but my brother caught the disease and now has a 15 gallon of his own, and wants a betta tank, but he lives with my mum at the moment and despite the huge house, she's not very fishy and doesn't want more tanks, unless it's discus, she really likes the look of discus (well done on picking the expensive ones mum!)

My girlfriend loves my tanks. She is learning about filtration and cycling now. She wants her OWN tank to breed guppies in. I'm all for it.

nope and nope. i came up with a deal though: as many rat cages etc in return for the same in fish tanks :)

My fiance takes a mild interest in my fish keeping hobby- he's learnt the names of a lot of the fish i keep and has certain favorites, but thats about it, he doesn't contribute anything towards my hobby like money or helping out with tank maintanence etc- but i'm pretty satisfied with that anyways :) . He has his car hobby, i have my fish hobby ^_^ .
I have some friend who are into fish keeping but they went off to uni and sold their fish, while the others live too far away to keep regular contact with. I've never met up with any of the members here on the forum yet.

anyone fancy meeting then? preferably female, small blonde and irish?

EDIT: I honestly did mean to put     in that

:p you know, if that's your preference, maybe you should just relocate to Ireland. somewhere near an all-female university ;) (if they even still have those over in Europe.... :S)

my roomate tolerates the fish (i give her a significant discount on the power bill, so that helps elevate her mood)

my boyfriend plays Magic: The Gathering, so he's got little room to talk about compulsive collecting!! but he has put down his foot on any new purchases until i move out some of my old fish. i suppose that's the price i pay for making him listen to my worries about overstocking my tanks. :p but he is good about offering to feed for me when i'm out of town. since i've now got badis fry that will only eat frozen food, this willingness to help is a very sexy attribute right now!

Dundee has two world-class universities, Dundee Uni (known for its cancer research, physics, art-collage and Computing development) and Abertay Uni (known for its Computer Games development, and for being the second rate uni in dundee.

Best thing is, Dundee Uni pulls in about 60% irish students. Oh I do love freshers week...

I've met a few people off the forum and I intend to meet a few more, especially if I can get over to Canada :hey:

nononono... ok, this may just be an American phenomenon, but there are universities (typically private schools) that are 100% female on purpose. its part of their schtick. and large portions of the student populations at these universities are sheltered young women still stuck under the thumb of their parents... you know that '80s fantasy about the librarian who's secretly a hottie under those glasses? same principle.
