Red Tiger Lotus Help

Hello i just received a red tiger lotus through the post from ebay. It came with a potting kit and instructions. It says to put some rockwool in the bottom then place the bulb then wrap the bulb in rock wool being careful to make sure the theshoots are at the the top and making sure its not covered. do i need to do al of that? Or can i just place the bulb straight into my graveland leaving the top of the shoots exsposed? I dont really want all this rock wool in my tank.

Good thats what i did in the end. Didnt want to mess around with that pot and rock wool rubbish. Hopefully it grows now
