I'm just wondering what other people feed their red rainbow fish.

I just got one a few days ago because it looked cool and was a nice addition to my tank (added a lot of color).

I have been feeding my fish flakes 5 nights a week and blood worms the other 2 nights. So far the rainbow will suck up the flakes but then spit them right back out. I don't think he has actually swallowed any of them yet. Do they just have to get used to eating flakes or something?

Do I need to do something different to make sure he gets enough food?

Thanks for the info

I didn't have a red rainbow, but I had some Boesemanis and some regular Splendids. They ate anything and everything!!

They are schooling fish and really should be kept in schools of 6 or more. The new one could just be settling in to your tank. As long as it's eating when you feed the bloodworms, I wouldn't worry and would just give him a chance to settle in.

Yeah he may just be lonely. I feed my rainbows flakes most days and bloodwrm 1 day. But I switch between veggie and meat flake. At first they spit the veggie flakes out but they seemed to catch on to the fact that spitting the veggie out was not going to get me to give them meat. Now they eat all flakes.
